On August 30, 1908, Giovanni Fattori died in a classroom of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, where for six decades he had been a student and then a scholar. A century later, the Academy honors him with an exhibit dedicated to his artistic career and didactic activities from 1846 to 1908.
